Early access · before launch

Put your money where your miles are.

You know the pattern. Big plans on the 1st, excuses by the 10th. Staked puts real money on your monthly target so this time you follow through. It costs £5 a month: you put £50 in, £45 is at stake. Hit your goal and it comes back, plus a share of the pot from everyone who didn't.

How it works

Three steps, one month at a time. Your target comes from your own running history, so it is always a fair stretch on what you already do. No coach, no plans.

1

Your data sets the goal

Connect Strava and we build a personal monthly target from how you actually run, a fair stretch on your own numbers.

2

Stake real money

You put in £50 a month. £5 is our fee, the other £45 is your stake in the pool with everyone at your level.

3

Hit it, split the pot

Clear your target and get your stake back plus a share of what the quitters forfeited. Miss it, and yours funds the ones who made it.

Follow through, or fund someone who did.

The reward is real because it isn't ours to give. Winners split the stakes forfeited by people who missed their target, a shared pot rather than a house payout. No odds, no edge, no chance. Just whether you did the runs.

Staked is an accountability tool, not a gambling product. Targets are earned through verified activity, and payouts come from a shared pot of participants' own stakes.

Questions

Everything worth knowing before you join.

Do I need Strava?

Yes. Strava is how we verify your runs automatically and set a fair target, so there is nothing to log by hand. It is free and connects to most watches and phone apps, including Garmin, Apple Watch, Coros and the Strava app itself. You link it when you join. Strava is the only tracker we support for now.

What if I do not have any running history?

That is fine. If your Strava is new or light on runs, we cannot build a data-based target yet, so your first month is a gentle probationary one: a conservative goal and a low stake cap while we learn your pace. After a cycle or two of real runs, your target and limits adjust to you.

How is my target set?

From your own running. We read your Strava history and set a personal monthly goal that is a fair stretch on what you already do. Every month it recalculates from how you actually ran, so it never drifts away from reality. No coach, no generic plan.

How much does it cost?

£5 a month is our fee. On top of that you set a stake. Most people put in £50, so £5 is the fee and £45 is at stake. Hit your goal and the £45 comes back plus a share of the pot from everyone who missed. Miss it and your £45 joins that pot. You can stake more or less, with a small minimum.

What counts as a run?

A run tracked on Strava that clears a minimum distance and time, so a short stroll will not count. We show you the exact threshold before you stake, and runs sync automatically.

What stops people gaming their target?

A fair question. Your goal is built from the least favourable stretch of your Strava history, not just your recent weeks, so easing off before you join will not lower it. New or thin accounts start with a low stake cap until they build a track record, and anything unusual gets a human review. And because winnings come from a shared pot rather than from us, the rare bit of gaming only slightly thins a pot, it cannot break the system. We keep it fair enough that it is not worth trying.

Is this gambling?

No. There are no odds, no house edge and no chance involved. You are backing your own effort against a target we can verify. Winners are paid from a shared pot of participants' own forfeited stakes, never by us. It is a commitment device, not a bet.

What if I get injured or life gets in the way?

The goal is monthly, so one rough week will not sink you as long as you make the runs up. If something serious happens, like an injury or illness, get in touch and we will look at it properly, case by case.

Can I cancel?

Yes. Staked is not a locked-in subscription. Each month is a fresh choice, and you decide whether to enter the next cycle. Once a cycle has started your stake is committed for that month, that is the point, but if you cancel before a cycle begins you are not charged.

How do I get paid, and is my money safe?

Payments run through Stripe, a regulated global payment provider, so we never store your card details. Your returned stake and any winnings are paid to your linked account in the first week after the cycle ends.

When does a cycle run?

Each cycle is a calendar month. You join in the short window before the 1st, run through the month, and payouts land in the first week of the following month.
